Artech stud welding guns are designed for specifically welding small to large diameter studs. They work to bring ease and efficiency to stud welding while also reducing operational fatigue of the workers. The gun runs on DC power. It is a pistol shaped tool with a compensating lift mechanism when performing the welding. It is capable of welding around 10 studs per minute. Shear stud welding gun working principle
Stud welding guns are used mostly in drawn arc stud welding. First, the gun is used to properly place the stud against the base metal to which it needs to be welded. When the gun’s trigger is pressed, an electric solenoid lifts the stud to a preset height. While this is happening, the base of the stud and the base metal is melted by the drawn arc, creating a pool of molten metal. Next, the gun forcefully brings the stud down into the molten metal pool, and the fused material is held together by a ceramic ferrule until the weld is formed.
The stud welding gun is best suited for short cycle stud welding which takes place within the span of a few seconds. Typically, short cycle welding is used in case of thin sheet metals. It is more common in industrial automotive applications, especially when welding studs with short diameters.
